This young ensemble takes its name from the Sanskrit word Janaki,

LEOS JANACEK: A SOLITARY GENIUS

Writing in virtual isolation in remote Moravia, this early 20th century composer conceived a unique and heartfelt musical language based on ancient folk melodies, speech rhythms, animal cries and birdsong. His fixation on certain women reveals the mysterious connection between erotic attraction and creativity. Susan Waterfall, piano, will be your guide on a geographic, historic and musicological tour with dramatic and colorful movements from the string quartets, sonatas, songs, wind sextet, and concerto for piano & chamber orchestra. Festival Chamber Players include Roy Malan, violin, Jill Richey Brindle, cello and Paula Goodman Wilder, soprano.

Multi-instrumentalist "Mr. Dave", a longtime champion of world music, effortlessly combines American folk, blues and bluegrass traditions with elements from African,Arabic, Asian, Celtic, Malagasy and Turkish music.
Known as the featured accompanist with Jackson Browne and leader of
his band El Rayo-X, he augments his performance with uncanny vocal mimicry
and a demented sense of humor and onstage banter.
